Time Off Work Did This Quilter Good!

I took Weds - Fri off of work last week. It was glorious time spent doing what I do best...Quilting!

I finished quilting and binding this scrappy braid. I used Jera's machine binding tutorial to bind it.

I sewed my first chevron together.  I plan to put a border on it.

I made the 2nd set of 4 blocks for a mystery quilt I'm working on.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to go together...as it is a mystery, but I currently have it laid on the design wall in the shape of a heart.

My plan for this next was a scrappy log cabin, but when I failed to sew 2 lights onto the heart center in the first round... I just went somewhere else w/it.  Here's what I have so far. It's looking more like a modern art quilt and it unintentionally resembles the Tommy Hilfiger logo.

I didn't ONLY sew during my time off though. I finished reading a book, I helped a friend pack, AND I took my grandson to the zoo!

To Wash or Not To Wash...

this is the question. And I'm not talking about fabric. I  pre-wash 95% of my fabric. The only time I have not pre-washed is when making One Block Wonder Quilts or Rag Quilts made from pre-cut charm packs.   What I would like to know is, should or should I not, wash a finished quilt that I am selling? Most of the quilts I've gifted, I've washed before giving them. It makes them all cozy and crinkly.  But should I wash a quilt I'm selling? I'm really interested in what my fellow quilters have to say on this subject. I appreciate any and all comments.

Thank you.

I Just Can't Help Myself...

Whenever I start a quilt I plan not to post pics until at least the quilt top is complete. But I just can't help myself! I get so excited about how it looks, usually before I even start sewing it together...and I just have to show the world!

Here is the Scrappy Braid I'm working on. I actually started quilting it yesterday.

And here is the Chevron currently laid out on the design wall.  I luv these colors and fabrics!

Lastly, here are 4 blocks from the mystery quilt I'm working on w/QA. I'll be working on a new pattern of 4 this week.

Happy Quilting!

Christmas in March and Cha-ching!

I came home the other evening and to my delight there was a package waiting for me. I was even more THRILLED when I opened it! It contained a card, a dress for my grand daughter and was filled with a bunch of fabric goodies. It was like Christmas in March!!! Thank you +Greta Anderson!!!

I finally got smart and hung some line outside to take better pics. I just finished this cute little rag quilt. It's for sale in the Etsy Shop.

Speaking of the Etsy Shop,  I made my first sale!

I've really got to get busy and get some more stuff on there.

I'm currently working on a scrappy braid quilt inspired by this.  After this, I will start my first chevron quilt. I found a few different techniques like this and this, but I shall go w/this one

I'm making it in reds, greys, black and maybe white.

On a non-quilty note, back in January I discovered the AC was out in my car.  I think I got in the car one day after the gym and turned it on and to my surprise, zero cool air.  No big deal...I rolled down the windows and I was good. I told my son about it and said I hoped I could hold out until May to get it fixed (I'm currently saving for a trip to Canada and NY). He said I probably couldn't make it February. Well...I made it to March! I couldn't stand it anymore and finally got it fixed last weekend. I'm not looking forward to Summer...but at least I'm the car is ready.

That's about it for this update. Until next time, Happy Quilting and God Bless.

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31

I Am Not Forgotten

So, I met this guy a couple of weeks ago that I really liked.  When I say I met him, what I really mean is, I saw him and heard him speak. He was giving his testimony at a faith-based drug and alcohol recovery program that I was visiting w/my son.  It was so encouraging to hear how God had changed his life and how he in turn was working to help others.  I was really captivated by his words and then I noticed how good looking he was! He wasn't wearing a wedding ring and hadn't talked about being married and when we left I told my son that he might just be the one.  My son said he was thinking the same thing!!! I found him on Facebook and sent him a friend request and note about how I enjoyed his testimony. (I have not heard back as of yet).  I planned to call him up the following Monday just to ask if he was married or seeing anyone. I told a couple of friends my plan and they talked me out of it and advised me to calm down and pray about it. So I prayed a little, but I really needed to know if he is married or not. I didn't want to be praying about something maybe happening w/a guy who is not available. This next part is going to make me sound like a stalker...but I promise you, I'm not.  I went back there today....to donate some items to their yard sale.  As I was there looking around, I saw one of the guys from the program and we started talking so I asked some questions about my guy.  According to my source(who may or may not be reliable), he is not married...nor seeing anyone. Now, I can pray about it with a clear conscience.

Even if he turns out not to be my guy, I feel like God was showing me that there are some good ones out there and that He hasn't forgotten about me. =)

"These Ain't Yo Mama's Tie Dyes!"

If you are in the market for some unique, beautiful tie dye, then check out Tie Dye by Karl.

Karl is a good personal friend and has made me several beautiful tops. Here are some of the most recent.

Tie Dye t-shirts are fun and a great idea for team shirts, reunions, or even company anniversaries (which is what the company I work for is considering for our 10th anniversary). Remember to stop by his store and let him know that Zenia sent you! =)

Fellow Quilters...he may even be inclined to tie dye some fabric for you!!
